How to Survive Road Trips with Toddlers

Toddler Traveling

A well-planned family road trip not only gives you and your family a chance to see the country on the wide-open road, it also gives you a chance to spend lots of time together. To make sure your hours on the road are a pleasant, bonding experience for you and yours, be sure you’re well-prepared with the following road trips survival tips.

  • Get Comfy – Toddlers like their toes free. Collect shoes in a bag when you get in the car. When you pull over for a pit stop, you won’t have to waste time searching under the seats and around the car seats for missing footwear.

  • Take Active Breaks – When you stop for a meal, find a place with a play area or pack lunches and picnic at a playground.

  • Pack Lots of Snacks – Bring healthy snacks that are easy to eat in the car (cheese sticks and applesauce pouches). Toss in something extra-special, too. You’re on vacation after all.

  • Stay Entertained – Pack each of your children a backpack filled with special road trip toys.

  • Do Not Forget the Blankies! – Before hitting the road, be sure everyone has their blanket or stuffed animal that they cannot sleep without.
