Guiding Little Gym Stars: Introducing Coach Hadassah!
When it comes to inspiring young gymnasts, few people do it as naturally as Coach Hadassah at the Tennessee Gymnastics Athletic Center (TGAC). Hailing from Nashville, TN, and growing up in Springfield, TN, Coach Hadassah’s journey into gymnastics began with a childhood dream to be a dancer. However, it was her first gymnastics competition that truly sparked her love for the sport, setting her on a path that would eventually lead her to a rewarding career in coaching.
Hadassah’s dedication to her students is deeply rooted in her upbringing. As the tenth child out of fourteen, she watched her parents work tirelessly to support their children’s passions. This strong family foundation instilled in her a deep admiration for hard work and a commitment to helping others succeed. Today, she channels that commitment into her work at TGAC, where she finds immense joy in watching her students grow and achieve their goals.
Beyond gymnastics, Hadassah is passionate about child abuse prevention, and in her free time, she continues to pursue her love for dance. She dreams of one day owning her own dance studio, but for now, she remains deeply fulfilled by her work at TGAC, where she teaches with the same passion and care as if she were working with her own children.
Behind the Balance Beam: Meet the Minds at TGAC!
The Tennessee Gymnastics Athletic Center is not just a gymnastics facility; it’s a dream brought to life by owners Scott and Julie Spence. With over 30 years of experience in the gymnastics world, Scott and Julie have dedicated their lives to the sport. Their journey began long before TGAC opened its doors in the spring of 2016. Both Scott and Julie were gymnasts themselves, meeting in college and later coaching at various facilities across middle Tennessee. Their love for gymnastics was further fueled by supporting eight of their fourteen children as they competed in the sport.
Scott and Julie’s vision for TGAC was to create a positive and encouraging environment where children could train both recreationally and competitively. After years of coaching a mobile gymnastics and fitness program, they decided it was time to establish a permanent home for their passion. TGAC is the result of their dedication and hard work, and it continues to thrive under their leadership.
Julie Spence serves as the Girls Program Director at TGAC, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep passion for gymnastics to the role. Scott Spence, the Owner and Director, has over three decades of experience in the sport and is equally committed to the athletes and families who walk through TGAC‘s doors.
Jump, Flip, and Play: TGAC’s Preschool Adventures!
TGAC offers a variety of programs designed specifically for preschool-aged children. These programs focus on developing essential skills such as body awareness, motor skills, eye-hand coordination, and following instructions, all while introducing the basics of gymnastics.
The Preschool Class for Boys and Girls Ages 3-5 Years is a perfect starting point for young gymnasts. This class includes activities like tumbling, low bar, low beam, mini parallel bars, trampoline, and tumble track, all aimed at preparing children for future athletic endeavors and even school.
For boys who want a bit more of a challenge, TGAC offers the Junior Warriors Class for Boys Ages 3-5 Years. This new program introduces young boys to basic men’s gymnastics skills, as well as ninja obstacle courses. It’s a fun and engaging way for boys to build their confidence, improve their coordination, and get ready for the next steps in their athletic journey.
Gym-tastic Getaway: Parents Night Out, Kids’ Night In!
TGAC also understands the importance of giving parents a break while ensuring their children have a great time. The Parents’ Night Out program is offered on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, from 5:30-9:00 PM. This program is open to boys and girls ages 3-12 years and provides a fun, safe environment where kids can enjoy games, obstacle courses, trampolines, and more.
For a modest fee, parents can drop off their children knowing they will be well cared for and entertained, allowing them to enjoy a well-deserved night out. TGAC even provides snacks, ensuring the kids are fueled for a night of fun and adventure.
TGAC is more than just a gymnastics center; it’s a community hub where children can learn, grow, and thrive under the guidance of passionate and experienced coaches like Hadassah. Whether your child is just starting out or looking to take their skills to the next level, TGAC offers the programs and support they need to succeed.
